[Also in Division F1] In an hydrostatic transmission comprising a swash plate pump and motor with cylinder blocks 1, 1<SP>1</SP> fixed to rotatable shafts 13 and 13<SP>1</SP> and swash plates 11, 11<SP>1</SP> pivotally mounted in a housing 4, 4<SP>1</SP> rotatable in a casing 23, the inclination of one or both of the swash plates is controlled by a piston 17 in a cylinder 16 communicating with distributer passages 7 in a distributer member 3 via non-return valves 28, and supplied with liquid under pressure which acts to move piston 17 against a spring 21 and to make up circuit losses in passages 7. One control cylinder 16 may be provided for each swash plate or the swash plates may be mechanically linked. The springs 21 of two cylinders 16 may be of different ratings so that the swash plates are individually controlled by suitable control pressures. The control pressure also may act to control other components of the transmission circuit.
