Abstract

1468077 Bearings STAL-LAVAL TURBIN AB 31 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 33740/74 Heading F2A A double-acting thrust bearing comprises a housing 3 carrying on each side a plurality of separate thrust pads 1, 7, each of which is supported by an axially movable hydraulic piston 2, 6, housed in a corresponding cylinder in the housing 3, there being an interconnection between the cylinder, e.g. 13 associated with the thrust pads 1 on the one side of the housing 3 and the cylinders being connectible to different pressure levels. The pistons 2, 6, on opposite sides of the housing 3 may be in line and pairwise interconnected by means of piston-rods 4. There may be pins 19 and rings 9, 10, between the pistons 2, 6 and the thrust pads 1, 7, to prevent rotation about the cylinder axes. In the embodiment, the second set of cylinders 11 are also interconnected.
