Abstract

1312275 Hydrostatic transmission ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 7 May 1970 [10 May 1969] 21980/70 Heading F2C [Also in Division F1] A power unit operable as a pump, motor or hydrostatic transmission comprises at least two machines 2, 55 each operable as a pump or motor, mounted in a common housing and having their rotating parts connected by releasable coupling means. In the axial piston machine arrangement shown, the rotary cylinder blocks have meshing gears, one gear 26 being axially movable by fork 43 for releasably engaging the other gear. Valves 63 and 67 are operable in conjunction with fork 43 to hydraulically connect the machines so that, with the gears engaged, either single or double pump or motor operation is obtained, and with the gears disengaged, the machines operate in a closed circuit as a hydrostatic transmission, clutch 60 also being operated with fork 43 to couple shaft 56 to output shaft 59. When operating as a transmission, pump 70 makes up leakage losses. In Fig. 8 (not shown), forward and reverse rotation of the transmission output shaft is provided by reversing the inclination of the pump swash-plate, check valves being provided in lines connecting the make-up pump to the high and low pressure connecting lines of the transmission. The coupling gears alternatively may be provided on the cylinder block drive-shafts, together with synchronizing means, Fig. 11 (not shown). In Fig. 2 (not shown), the cylinder blocks are fixed and the swash-plates rotate, the coupling gears being mounted on the swash-plates. The axially movable gear arrangement may be replaced by a gear movable into and out of mesh with gears on the rotating parts of the pumps or motors, Fig. 9 (not shown). The axial piston pumps or motors may be replaced by radial piston pumps or motors. In Fig. 10 (not shown), three pumps or motors are arranged in a common housing, two of them having driveshafts, and a coupling means being provided for operation as a transmission with auxiliary pump, a double pump or motor, or a single pump or motor. Belt or chain drives may replace the coupling gears.
