Class 17(2) A moulded plastic shoe unit 10 preferably of a synthetic polymer composition comprises a raised heel 16, a counter portion 17, a forepart tread portion 18, an arched shank portion 19, and a flange 20. The counter is shaped to fit the concave and convex parts of the heel of the foot The heel is preferably provided with a well 24 which may be filled with a filler body 29 such as cork, wood, moulded plastic, soft or sponge rubber, or a settable material may be poured in. Various types of uppers may be attached to the unit e.g. by perofrating the flange 20 and attaching the upper by laces. Shoes to fit snugly deformed feet may be prepared by using a mould prepared from a plaster cast of the feet.
