Abstract
The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0808063/IV (c)/1> where Y1 is an alkoxy group of preferably not more than 4 C atoms, which contains a hydroxyl or alkylated hydroxyl group, and Y2 is as Y1 or a hydroxyl or unsubstituted alkoxy group. The aliphatic hydrocarbon residue of the alkoxy group may be saturated or unsaturated. They are made by conventional coppering processes from the corresponding o,o1-dimethoxydiphenyls, the latter being made in the usual way from appropriate tetrazotized diphenyls and naphthol sulphonic acids. Specified for Y1 are b -hydroxyethoxy, b - and g -hydroxypropropoxy, b ,g - dihydroxypropoxy and b - methoxyethoxy and Y2 as Y1 and additionally methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy, isopropoxy, isobutyloxy and allyloxy. The dyestuffs dye cellulosic materials in blue tints. Examples are provided illustrative of the preparation of the dyestuffs from certain of the components specified above and their use in dyeing cotton.
