Abstract
Dyes having the general formula <FORM:0999996/C4-C5/1> wherein R is a benzene residue, are prepared by coupling diazotized 5-nitro-2-amino-phenol with a 2 - phenylamino - 8 - hydroxynaphthalene - 6-sulphonic acid, condensing two molecules of the resulting nitro-azo dyestuff together by reduction, e.g. in the presence of arsenious acid or of glucose and alkali, and then coppering. The phenyl group of the naphthol used as coupling component (i.e. the residue R) may be substituted by chloro, methyl, methoxy, carboxy, carboxymethoxy or sulphonic acid groups. Specification 923,265 is referred to.
