807,988. Electromagnetic switches. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. Aug. 22, 1957 [Aug. 22, 1956], No. 26542/57. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVIII] A relay controlling a plurality of circuits and comprising fixed electromagnets of like polarity spaced round a circular path and a permanent magnet rotor mounted at the centre of the circular path for rotation by selective energization of just one of the electromagnets, has means operatively associated with the permanent magnet rotor for controlling a circuit in each rotary position. As described for controlling three circuits I, II, III one of the switches 1, 2, 3, for example the switch 1 is temporarily closed to energize the winding 16 of the electromagnet 10 which pulls the permanent magnet rotor 14 to the position shown in solid lines. Simultaneously a cam disc 25 attached to the magnet causes a control rod 27 to be shifted from the contact pair 21 to the contact pair 30 thereby opening the energizing circuit of the electromagnet 10 and completing the circuit I. The magnet remains in this position by virtue of its magnetism thereby keeping the circuit I closed until subsequent closure of a switch 2 or 3 causes further action to take place with resulting closure of circuit II or circuit III.
