[Also in Group IX] A miniature inductive device comprises a cagelike array of terminal wires 13 supported by an insulating plate 12 and surrounding a winding or windings 21 on a flanged spool 20, the wires being biased against notches in the flanges by a tensioned insulating tape 35 so as to prevent relative movement. A closed magnetic core of, for example, magnesium zinc ferrite formed from two U-shaped portions cemented together has one limb linking the spool and is seated in a recess in the plate 12. Ends 22 of the windings 21 are wound on the wires 13 and connected by dip soldering. The device may be given a dip coating of insulation or vacuum impregnation with wax. Alternatively it may be enclosed in a casing 14 and filled with a sealing compound.
