Class 106(5) [Also in Group XXIX] In an apparatus dispensing measured quantities of liquid or plastic material to containers C and of the type having a free piston 4 oscillated in a measuring cylinder 1 by the pressure of the liquid to be dispensed, the rise in pressure in the main liquid supply conduit 40 as the piston 4 reaches an extereme position of its stroke acts on the lower face 37 of a piston 36 controlling a valve 46 and raises it against the balancing force of fluid pressure from a conduit 42 acting on the upper face of the piston 36, thus opening the valve 46 to allow the fluid pressure to pass, under the control of a valve 34, to one or other side of a piston 23 which, through linkage 24, 20, 12, reverses the liquid control slidevalves 10 at the ends of the measuring cylinder. The fluid from conduit 42 may be air or a liquid and may be under a positive pressure or a vacuum pressure. The valve 34 is reversed at the end of the piston strokes by a lever 30 acted on by stops 33 on the piston 4. The amount dispensed can be varied by adjusting a screwed end stop 53.
