Abstract

Objects are coated by heating and dipping into powdered coating material which is agitated by vibration. The objects may be of metal, e.g. iron, or of synthetic resin, e.g. phenolic or urea resins, high-melting polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes or polycarbonates. The coating material may be polyethylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamides, polyesters, polyesteramides, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, organo-silicon compounds, low-melting metals, glasses or enamels, bitumen or waxes, and may contain fillers, pigments, high-melting metals, high-melting glass, silicic acid, silicates, or metal oxides. The coated articles may be subsequently reheated to fuse or cure the coating. Suitable vibration frequencies are between 10 and 1,000 cycles per second. Examples describe the coating of tins with polyamide, and of polyamide rods with polyethylene.ALSO:Objects are coated by heating and dipping into powdered coating material which is agitated by vibration. The coating material may be polyethylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamides, polyesters, polyesteramides, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, organo-silicon compounds, low-melting metals, glasses or enamels, bitumen or waxes, and may contain fillers, pigments, high-melting metals, high-melting glass, silicic acid, silicates, or metal oxides.
