Class 43 An elastic link strap comprises superimposed staggered hollow links connected by U shaped brackets pivoting against spring action, one arm only of a bracket being inserted in the open ends of adjacent links in both layers, each link of one layer and one staggered link of the other layer being in one piece. An elastic link strap comprises links consisting of an upper and a lower rectangular hollow casing 3, 4 containing a bent leaf spring 9 engaged by a pair of arms 14 of U shaped brackets 12 inserted in the open ends of the casings. To retain the brackets in the casings and for free pivoting movement, the end 11 of the leaf spring is bevelled or bent over and the end of the bracket arm is bent to retain the leaf spring. To produce an even side edge, the casings may have extensions 7 and/or 8 which are bent as shown in Fig. 20 to cover the brackets. The upper and lower casings may be partitioned as shown in Fig. 29 by extending one wall of the casing and bending it into the casing to form an inner wall 23. The springs in the casings have the same width as the brackets. Each link may comprise two staggered casings 3, 4 as shown in Fig. 35 and the edges may be made even with bent over extensions 7 and by bending the brackets outwarly to align with the extensions 7 as shown in Fig. 49. The lower wall and side walls of the casing may be extended so that the edges align with the outer edge of the brackets. The lower links may be narrower than the upper links. Each link may be stamped from one piece of sheet metal and bent to form two casings.
