An expansible link strap comprises two superimposed layers of links 10, 20 extending transversely of the strap and staggered by one half link, the links comprising shells open on the engaging sides and housing leaf springs 30, each spring contacting an offset wall 41, 42 of a connecting member 40, the walls extending from an intermediate wall 43 in opposite directions into a link in both layers and having slots in which slide guide portions 15, 25 on the upper and lower links. The guide portions are obtained by bending over the end walls of the links into slots cut in the ends of the side walls. To facilitate the removal of a link a cut-out 26 is made in a guide portion and the corresponding end of a side wall 42 cut short to allow it to pass through the aperture. The springs may be integral with or secured to the centre of the walls 41, 42 or like side walls. Alternatively, the edges of the walls are turned over to retain the spring and the edges of the side walls of the links are similarly turned over. Specification 802,945 is referred to.
