Class 43 An expansible watch band or bracelet comprises front and rear sets or rows of box-like chain pieces 2 and 6 respectively, those in one row being staggered relative to those in the other row, with a leaf spring 24 located in each chain piece and substantially U-shaped connecting links 34 forming articulated connections between the chain pieces in one row and those in the adjacent row and acting against the springs when the band is extended, and is characterized in that each box-like chain piece 2 and 6 is provided with retaining portions 16 which engage the substantially U-shaped links 34 and retain them in position. In the example the box-like chain pieces 2 and 6 of both front and rear sets are provided with ornamental outer shells or covers 4 and 8 respectively, which are secured in position by central inturned tabs 22, Fig. 8, thereon extending through gaps in inwardly directed side flanges 14 and against the inside of the walls 12 of the respective box-like chain pieces. Instead of forming the chain pieces 2 and 6 with the retaining tabs 16 the main walls 18 of the outer shells 4 and 8 may have bendable retaining tabs formed at the ends to engage the U-shaped links 34.
