Abstract

Nylon textiles are dyed from an aqueous acidic bath containing a direct, acid, acid metallized or mordant acid dyestuff and from one to ten times the weight of the dyestuff of a salt of a substituted imidazoline of the formula <FORM:0806026/IV (c)/1> wherein R1=an alkyl, aralkyl, phenyl, hydroxyalkyl or carboxyalkyl radical and R2=an open aliphatic chain of 10-18 carbon atoms, or a quaternary imidazolinium compound of the formula <FORM:0806026/IV (c)/2> wherein R1 and R2 are as above, X=a halogen, and R3=an alkyl, aralkyl, phenyl, hydroxyalkyl or carboxyalkyl radical, or a quaternary imidazolinium compound of the formula <FORM:0806026/IV (c)/3> wherein R2 is as above and R1 and R3= hydroxyalkyl, alkali metal substituted hydroxyalkyl or alkali metal substituted carboxyalkyl radicals. The dyebath may also contain nonionic dispersing agents. Numerous examples are given. Specification 461,237, [Group IV], is referred to.
