Abstract
805,484. Preventing incrustation. VERMEIREN, T. I. S. April 13, 1956 [April 29, 1955], No. 11321/56. Class 123(1) .To prevent incrustation of surfaces by liquids giving rise to the formation of calcareous, siliceous or magnesia deposits, the liquid is passed through a restricted passage adjacent a magnet pole so that it is subjected to a magnetic field of great intensity. The liquid may be passed between pointed or rounded pole pieces providing the restricted path (Figs. 1-4, not shown). In the construction shown in Fig. 5, a magnet 5 is disposed in a container 4 so that its opposite ends 1, 2 respectively restrict the inlet and outlet passages to annular gaps 3 across which a strong field exists. In another form, Figs. 7, 8, four magnets 5A are mounted within a casing 4 with narrow gaps between their adjacent ends 1, 2 which are of opposite polarities. The liquid is constrained to enter the space enclosed by the magnets and pass outwardly through the gaps by baffle plates 6, 7.
