804,963. Brake shoes. AMERICAN BRAKE SHOE CO. Nov. 20, 1956 [Nov. 30, 1955], No. 35444/56. Class 103 (1). [Also in Group XXV] A brake shoe key 9 for coupling a brake head 10 and an associated brake shoe 11, comprises an elongated shank adapted at one end 23 to be impacted to drive the key forwardly into a keyway such that an arcuate portion 22 of the shank of the key is placed under compression when in position shown in Fig. 1, characterized in that the end portion of the key adjacent end 23 to be impacted is provided on at least one edge with serrations 36 adapted to be engaged by the end of a tool for forcing the key out of the keyway. Serrations 35 at lower end portion of key 9 engage the lower edge of plate 14 and an angled off-set portion 30 of the key is provided to engage lug 13 of brake head 10 to retain the key in its engaged position.
