Abstract
803,530. Air blast cleaning devices. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. Jan. 12, 1956. [Jan 12, 1955], No. 1100/56. Class 8(1). [Also in Group XXIX] One or more air blast nozzles 25, Fig. 2, located between a stock rail 4 and a paints blade 6 so as to blow snow and debris therefrom are supplied with intermittent blasts from a reservoir 18, Fig. 4, continuously charged through a throttle valve 20 and connected to the nozzles through a control valve 27 and a duct 21 ; the valve 27 being opened automatically as the reservoir pressure exceeds a predetermined value and subsequent closure as the reservoir pressure decreases being delayed by a condenser 38 in the circuit of a solenoid 29 serving to hold the valve 27 in its open position against a spring. The solenoid is energized by the closing of a switch 28 responsive to a predetermined pressure in the duct 17 connecting the reservoir 18 to the control valve 27.
