Abstract

803,001. Two-part couplings. FERRANTI, Ltd. Aug. 28, 1956 [June 20, 1955], No. 17697/55. Class 38 (1). The resilient arms 11, 12 of a bifurcated socket contact are urged together by a reinforcing spring 23 in the form of a rectangular loop of wire, the ends 24 of which overlap and engage the outer faces of the arms. The sides of the loop extend substantially parallel to the arms 11, 12 and the end 25 opposite the ends 24 extends between the arms. Tongues 21 struck out from the stem 13 of the contact retain the contact in an aperture 20 in an insulating panel 19 which panel has a shroud 22 surrounding the arms 11, 12. In the embodiment shown the contact is bent up from a single strip of metal but it may comprise two strips joined together at the stem by causing a tongue bent out from one strip to engage a slot in the other, which tongue may replace the tongues 21.
