802,464. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 1, 1957 [Jan. 30, 1956], No. 39/57. Class 112 The stitch-length adjusting level 12 in a sewing machine passes through a slot 17 in the machine frame 1, one edge of said slot being formed with a V-shaped depression 18, and a member 21, adjustably slidable axially on lever 12, is formed with a lateral finger 22 adapted to co-operate with said edge to limit the angular movement of the lever, the finger co-operating with the sides of the depression to provide a fine adjustment in the region of zero or no-feed setting of the lever. Member 21 has an outer end screwed into a rotatable, but axially fixed nut 24. Lever 12 is secured by a screw 13 to a block 7 pivoted at 8 to the frame 1 and formed with a slot 9 slidably receiving a block 10 which is pivoted at 11 to a feed-advance pitman 3, the latter having a forked upper end embracing a rotary cam 5. Variation of the inclination of slot 9 thereby alters the longitudinal throw of the pitman.
