800,585. Optical objectives. ZEISSSTIFTUNG, C., [trading as ZEISS, C., [Firm of ]]. June 13, 1957, No. 9077/56. Class 97(1) In a photographic-objective consisting of six simple lenses of which the first, second, fifth, sixth are collective and the third and fourth dispersive and wherein all surfaces of radius less than 90 per cent of the focal length f of the objective are concave to the diaphragm located in the airspace between the third and fourth lenses, the following conditions are simultaneously fulfilled where #rsis the mean of the radii of the third and third last surfaces, Ds_ is the axial separation of such surfaces, r z is the mean of the radii r5, r6 of the surfaces bounding the diaphragm space and D z is the length of such space while L is the overall length of the objective. Numerical data are given for two examples of the objective shown and for two examples in which the surfaces r7, r8 are cemented together.
