Class 97(1) In an objective consisting of two meniscus collective components enclosing two dispersive meniscus components concave to a central diaphragm therebetween the first dispersive component being simple and the rear dispersion component consisting of two lens elements of opposite refractive power cemented together the following conditions are fulfilled. when dII and dIII on the arise thicknesses: of the second and third components, Ds is the vertex distance between the outer convex surfaces of the dispersive components and rs is the arithmetic mean of the radii of curvature of these surfaces, D2 is the vertex distance between the facing concave surfaces of the dispersion components, L is the overall length of the objectives and f its focal length. Numerical data are given for two examples of the objective shown and for one example in which the front component is a doublet.
