784,039. Optical objectives. ZEISSSTIFTUNG, C., [trading as ZEISS, C. [Firm of]]. Feb. 13. 1956 [Feb. 15, 1955], No. 4384/56. Class 97(1) A photographic-objective consisting of six lenses of which the first and second are collective, the third and fourth are dispersive, the fifth and sixth are collective and in which the second and third lenses are cemented together and all surfaces having a radius numerically smaller than the focal length f are concave towards the diaphragm between the third and fourth lenses is characterized in that the following conditions are fulfilled simultaneously:- where #r s = arithmetic mean of the radii of the third and third last surfaces. Ds = the separation of the apices of these two surfaces. #r z = the arithmetic mean of the radii of the surfaces bounding the diaphragm space. D z = the length of the diaphragm space. L = overall length of the objective. d 7 = the airspace between the fourth and fifth lenses and d 3 , d 4 , ds, and ds are respectively the centre thicknesses of the second, third, fourth and fifth lenses. Numerical data are given for three examples of the objective shown.
