Abstract

800,398. Batch mixing machines. LEVEAU, R. L. A. Sept. 25, 1956, No. 29315/56. Class 86 A mixing device which can impart an independent stirring action with or without. a circulatory motion to a liquid depending upon the direction of rotation of a motor comprises hollow stirring paddles 10, 11 mounted on one end of a hollow shaft 9 with a crown wheel 7 at the other end driven by a reversible motor 1 through an eccentrically positioned double pinion 3 acting upon a crown wheel 2 fixed to the housing 1b of the motor 1. A turbine 17 disposed within the hollow shaft 9 is rotated in one direction only with thepaddles 10, 11 by the motor 1 and shafts 6, 5 and 16 with a free wheel 8. Liquid is drawn through a hole in the lower end of the hollow shaft 9 by the turbine 17 and is expelled through the ends of the rotating paddles 10, 11. Rotation of the motor 1 in the opposite direction causes only the paddles 10, 11 to rotate. An alter-- native form is described, Figs. 5, 6 and 7, where the forces created by the output of the turbine 17 from one hollow stirring paddle causes the mixing device to slope on its U-shaped supports 26, 27.
