Abstract
Mixer incorporates a stationary vessel with a fixed gear-case in its upper part, carrying a motor and a redn. gear and a mobile gear-case mounted so as to rotate about the axis of the vessel. The mobile gear-case rotates on bearings. One is carried on an upper bearing block which is fixed to the upper gear-case. The output shaft of the reduction gear passes through this bearing block on the same axis as that of the vessel, and constitutes the central drive. The other bearing on which the mobile gear case rotates is on the lower end of the central shaft. The mobile gear case carries a vertical eccentric output shaft to which is fixed a cross bar carrying the mixing arms. The eccentric shaft rotates on bearings carried on the mobile gear case. A toothed wheel fixed on the lower part of the eccentric shaft engages in a pinion fixed on the lower part of the central shaft. A pinion fixed on the upper part of the eccentric shaft engages in a toothed wheel which rotates on bearings carried on the bearing block through which the central shaft passes. The cross bar is thus subjected to an epicycloidal motion. The mobile gear case carries two electrodes extending downwards and connected to a measuring appts. by conductors passing through a sleeve in the hollow central shaft. The conductors are connected at their upper end respectively to rotating conducting rings, on which the brushes make contact, connected to the measuring appts. Improvements are in the mechanism by which the cross-bar rotates and in the control of the degree of humidity of the constituents of the mixt. The mechanism is partic. simple and gives optimum working of the mixing paddles without expensive reduction gear. The electrodes give a continuous measurement of the humidity which, partic. in making cement, determines the degree of hydration and the plasticity. Their rotation ensures automatic cleaning avoiding incorrect measurements.
