Abstract

1,208,149. Brushes. T. NYKANEN. 28 June, 1968, No. 30997/68. Heading A4K. [Also in Divisions B3 and F2] In a power-driven scrubbing device, two concentric rings of cleaning members, which may be brush bristles, sponge-like bristles, or scraping or grinding means, are connected to a continuously rotating driving shaft by a mechanism which converts the drive into rotary oscillations in opposite directions. In Fig. 2, rings of bristles 11, 12 are oscillated in opposite directions by reciprocating rack frame 26, driven by eccentric 29. In Figs. 6, 7 pinion 35 is axially displaceable along shaft 34 selectively to engage either rack 33 (for oscillatory movement) or gear 31 (for continuous rotation). Pinion 36 meshes with toothed rings 37, 38 on the brush rings 11, 12. Washing liquid is supplied through a pipe in shaft 20. Bevel gear 30 is driven, via a flexible drive and clutch 23, by an electric motor. A gear wheel may alternatively be formed as a turbine, driven by the washing liquid.
