800,088. Cooling electric motors. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Sept. 7, 1956 [Feb. 17, 1956], No. 27511/56. Class 35. [Also in Group XIII] A compression refrigeration system includes an economizer and means are provided whereby refrigerant gas flows from the economizer to cool the motor of the rotary compressor. Gas enters the motor by longitudinal passages 46 between the casing and the stator 43 and is distributed into transverse chambers 48 where it is circulated by the rotor 42 before being directed by baffles 49 to outlet passages parallel to the passages 46. The gas is also circulated over windings projecting beyond the stator.
