Abstract

799,858. Cycle tyre inflator connectors. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. July 11, 1956 [May 22, 1956], No. 15695/56. Class 99(1). A short length of rubber hose 1 attached to a metal head 2 adapted to screw on to the tyre valve, is releasably retained in the bore of the handle of the inflator by means of a rubber sleeve 8 of frusto-conical external shape whereby the connector can fit in bores of different diameter. The sleeve 8 may be located in a recess 6 between the end of the head 2 and a flange 5 on a ferrule 4 and in use is compressed into the recess; alternatively, the sleeve may be cylindrical internally in which case clearance is provided to allow extension of the sleeve as it is compressed. The shape of the frusto-conical exterior may be formed by a number of frusto-conical steps.
