Abstract
655,951. Compressors. SOMVILLE, C. Nov. 26, 1947, No. 31279. Convention date, Sept. 5. [Class 8(i)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a hand operated pump for bicycles the movements of the moving parts are damped in both directions by a single elastic member 4 inserted between two movable chocks 3, 6. Relatively fixed adjacent cylindrical walls are connected by mouldings. A spring 4 constituting the elastic member surrounds a piston rod 7 between the check 6, limited in its travel by a concave moulding 6a on the body 1, and the second check 3 limited by an elastic ring 5 in a convex moulding 5a. The body 1 carries a head 2 perforated and tapped to receive a pipe and secured to the body 1 by mouldings 24 25 adjacent a deformed edge 23 on the body 1 which enters a recess in the head 2. A handle piece 14 is secured to the rod 7 by a sleeve 15 and a tubular extension 13 extends towards the body 1 from the piece 14 secured thereto by a moulding 16, the edge 17 being embedded in a recess in the piece 14. The rod 7 is secured by mouldings 20, 21, 22 to a ferrule 8 which has a threaded extension on which are fitted in order a stiff washer 11, a piston body 9, a second washer 10 and a nut 12. All the parts except the body 9, possibly the spring 4, and ring 5 may be made of light metal.
