A dental amalgam holder has an adjustable stop for the plunger so as to determine the effective capacity of the applicator nozzle. The nozzle b, at one end of the handle member a, accommodates the piston d and this is connected through a flexible rod e to the plunger rod f. The latter rod fits freely into a cylindrical hole in a rod and a stop h is normally held against the end of this rod by a spring g. The outward movement of the rod j is limited by a stop m engaging the ferrule k which is threaded for longitudinal adjustment in the body a and is provided with a lock nut l. The retraction movement of the plunger is thus adjustably limited and the effective capacity of the nozzle b can be determined to suit the requirements of the user.
