Abstract
799,683. Securing building boards. P.I.M. BOARD CO., Ltd., and FORD, C. Jan. 27, 1956 [Feb. 9,)955]; No. 3926/55. Class 20(4) Building boards 7 8, Fig. 2, are secured in position on the flanges 9 of a T-section beam by means of L-shaped cross-section metal strips P placed in correspondingly shaped slots 11 in the web 10 of the beam, each strip P having tongue portions 1, 2 which are bent into such positions that the strips P cannot be withdrawn from the slots 11. As shown, each strip P has the tongues 1, 2 centrally positioned and spaced apart by a distance only slightly greater than the thickness of web 10, so that when each strip P has been inserted in its corresponding slot 11 and the tongues bent up, the latter closely engage the beam. The slots 11 may be formed in groups, each group having slots 11 at differing distances from the flanges 9 to accommodate boards 7, 8 of different thicknesses. In a modification, the slots are inverted and strips as shown in Fig. 3 are used, the edge 12 of each strip engaging the boards. In a further form L-shaped beams are used, the slots being in the vertical limbs of the beams, and the strips may be shorter.
