Class 20(4) Wall or ceiling panels 1, Fig. 10, are supported by keys 5 each extending through an aperture in a plate bracket 30 extending between opposed edges of adjacent panels, the key being engaged conjointly in opposed edges of adjacent panels. In Fig. 10 the keys are formed as dowels which engage bushes 8 within blind holes formed in the panel edges and the bracket 30 is in the form of a lath having a transversely curved top flange adapted to be retained, by clips 40 screwed to battens 2, in a manner permitting longitudinal adjustment of the lath. The plate brackets may alternatively be in the form of separate short members. In the embodiment of Fig. 17, a plate bracket 3 is slotted to receive a key in the form of a strip spline 50 which engages grooves in opposed panel edges. In a further embodiment the keys are in the form of double ended metal spikes 51, Fig. 21, which penetrate the edges of panels consisting of or filled with relatively soft material. The plate bracket 34 is formed with struck-out tongues 35 which form locating abutments for the meeting corners of four adjacent panels. In a further embodiment, panels 1, Fig. 26, consisting of metal trays are supported by plane keys 55 which span across the angles of the meeting corners of four panels and are engaged in slots 13 formed in the flanges of the panels at the corners. Several other embodiments are described. At the angle of a ceiling meeting a wall, the panels can rest upon a cornice batten and may be held against disengagement from their keys by bow springs which press against the edges of the panels resting on said batten.
