Abstract

<PICT:0798990/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0798990/IV (b)/2> Textile materials are dyed or otherwise treated with liquid in an autoclave 10, Fig. 1, which is rotatable about hollow trunnions by means of a wheel 16 and worm 17 turned manually or by a motor, which autoclave forms part of a closed circulation system comprising a pump 1, pipes 2 and reverse flow valve 5, a heat-exchanger 4, a feed tank 8 and a sampling pot. In a modification, Fig. 3, the autoclave 10 is rotated about one end to obviate the need for pipes 18, 19, Fig. 1, and is counterbalanced. The autoclave may be rotated periodically or continually, and in addition to the normal clearing hole in the cover two other such holes are provided one or the other of which will be a the top of the autoclave when it is horizontal.
