Abstract
Apparatus for dyeing samples comprises a heat-insulated bath 1 containing a heat transfer liquid such as water, a circular arrangement of pots 3 containing dye liquor and the samples 19, a tubular heater 4 heated electrically or by steam pipes 5, 6 as shown, and helical vanes 16 on the heater which promote a rotary flow in the heat transfer liquid. A liquid overflow pipe 7 is <PICT:0824344/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0824344/IV(c)/2> provided, and a tube 8 passing up through the pipe is used to exhaust vapour rising from the pots 3. A device 18 may be reciprocated to raise and lower the samples and cause movement of the dye liquor. In a modification the heater 4 may be sub-divided into chambers which are successively traversed by the steam, and circulation of the heat transfer liquid may be promoted by a pump.
