Abstract
<PICT:0875987/IV(c)/1> An apparatus for the wet treatment of textile materials with a treating liquor at above 100 DEG C. consists of a treatment vessel provided with means for circulating the liquor, having a supplementary pump for generating pressure in the vessel and for supplying further treating liquor, and having connected to the suction side of the pump a supplementary tank, a valve-controlled by-pass pipe connecting the delivery side of this pump with the supplementary tank and incorporating a pressure control valve, and a connecting pipe joining the by-pass pipe with the treatment vessel, the arrangement being such that, when liquor is not being introduced into the vessel, the supplementary pump circulates the liquor from the tank and through the by-pass pipe, the opening pressure of the pressure control valve determining the pressure in the by-pass pipe and, through the connecting pipe, the pressure in the vessel. Referring to the Figure, supplementary pump 9 fills treating vessel 1, containing cheeses to be dyed, with dye liquor; when vessel 1 is full, vent 20 is closed and liquor circulates through 3-way valve 13, by-pass 14, pressure control valve 15, pipe 16, supplementary tank 11 and pipe 10. Heating device 21 and circulating pump 3 are started and expansion liquor flows from vessel 1 via pipe 17, control valve 15 and pipe 16 into tank 11, where cooling jacket 18 keeps the temperature below boiling point. When the temperature of vessel 1 reaches its required point, no further liquor passes therefrom to tank 11 and so cooling of this tank is stopped.
