Abstract

An autoclave for dyeing or bleaching textiles has treatment fluid feed through it in a closed circuit including a pump and a heat exchanger to control the temperature of the fluid. The control of the flow of fluid through the autoclave is effected by feeding fluid through a by-pass circuit which is pref. in parallel with the closed circuit. The by-pass circuit in connected at one end to the autoclave and at the other end to the pump via the heat exchanger. Rapid changes in the flow rate through the autoclave particularly at the start of the process can be controlled. The uniformity of the concentration, temperature and flow rate of the treatment fluid can be controlled.
