Abstract
798,965. Ventilation apparatus. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 9, 1955 [Jan. 14, 1955], No. 22974/55. Class 137 [Also in Group XIII] Apparatus for supplying air to an enclosure comprises a cooling coil located in the path of the air and damper control means operable either to direct air over the coil or to prevent the flow of air over the coil. An apparatus is shown in which the air may either be heated or cooled before passing to the distributing ducts 15. The heating means comprises a combustion unit 13 over which air is forced by a blower and thereby heated. In the air duct above the heating unit is arranged air cooling means comprising the evaporator coil of a refrigerating system, the condenser arid compressor; of which are mounted outside the enclosure on a concrete base and in a weather-proof housing 19. Dampers 60 are associated with the cooling coil such that in one position, when the heating unit is operative, the heated air does not flow over the evaporator coil, and when cooled air is required, or wHen it is necessary to modify the temperature of the heated air the dampers are moved to position shown to direct the air over the evaporator coil for cooling before passing to the ducts 15. The dampers 60 which may be actuated manually or automatically, are located as shown .between the spaced coils of the evaporator unit, which is mounted in a casing 17 forming part of the duct through which air passes to distributing ducts 15.
