Abstract
1,200,924. Air conditioning apparatus; heating and cooling buildings. CARRIER ENG. CO. Ltd. 26 July, 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 36627/67. Headings F4U and F4V. An air conditioning system comprises a primary air supply chamber 2 which includes a fan 9 drawing air from an enclosure 5 to be air conditioned; a spill air outlet 12 housing a heat reclaim coil 13, a fresh air inlet 14, a dehumidifier 15, a fan 17 and a heater 16, the primary air being supplied through a conduit 7 to air induction units 8, as described in Specification 809,905. Each unit 8 includes a secondary air damper controlled manually or thermostatically and the chamber 2 includes dampers 18, 19, 20 which are controlled manually or thermostatically and collectively. The coil 13 and dehumidifier 15 are included in a cold water circuit together with secondary air cooling coils 34 in the units 8 and an evaporator 33. The heater 16 is included in a hot water circuit together with a water heater 44 which is connected to a vapour compressor 48 in common with the evaporator 33. Surplus heat is extracted from the system by a third water circuit including a condenser 49 and a cooling tower 55. At night, hot water supplied by an electrically heated thermal storage vessel 56 is passed through the coils 34 in the units 8, the remaining apparatus being closed down.
