Abstract

798,245. Carrier multiplex systems; partyline systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 8, 1957 [Feb. 10, 1956], No. 4265/56. Class 40 (4). Multi-channel carrier terminal equipment 1, Fig. 1, is connected to one end of a line 2, outlying stations 3, 4, 5 having carrier equipment are bridged across the line 2 at separated points for communication with the terminal station 1, a different band of frequencies being used for each outlying station, and the far end of the line is terminated at 9 by its characteristic impedance at frequencies within the bands used for all the outlying stations. In a modification, Fig. 2, terminal stations 15 and 16 are connected to the two ends of a line which is divided into two sections 13 and 14, joined by a filter 17 which passes the carrier channels (1-4) used for communication between the two terminal stations. Outlying stations using channels 5-9 are spaced along section 13 of the line and stations using channels 5-8 are spaced along section 14, each section being terminated, at 20, 21 by its characteristic impedance connected through a filter 18, 19 passing the frequency bands used by the outlying stations connected to that section.
