Abstract

714,458. Multiplex systems. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd. May 1, 1953 [May 2, 1952], No. 11185/52. Class 40 (4) In a multi-channel alternating current telegraph system wherein some of the channels are terminated at an intermediate station and the same frequency range is used for communication in the same direction over another part of the system, inter action is prevented by modulating all the signal currents received at the intermediate station so that the frequency bands of the terminated cha, nnels are transposed to a position outside, but adjacent to, the communication band. In one example an eighteen channel system extending over a range of frequencies 420-2460 c.p.s., six channels 420-1020 c.p.s. are received in apparatus R after amplification in amplifier A1, and the whole eighteen channels are also passed via a modulator M and a filter F to an output amplifier AZ. The modulator is fed by a 3600 c.p.s. oscillator and the lower side-bands 1140-3180 are selected by the filter. Six additional channels originating from a sender T and occupying the frequency band 420-1020 c.p.s. are also applied to the amplifier A2 for communication in the same direction.
