Abstract

703,247. Multiplex pulse signalling. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 18, 1950, No. 12451/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (5) A pulse train, comprising a plurality of interlaced channel pulse trains, frequency modulates a carrier wave which is periodically interrupted at the channel pulse recurence frequency to provide synchronizing signals. In the transmitter described, a delay line distributer provides channel pulses which are subsequently amplitude modulated, combined and used to frequency modulate a carrier. The distributer also produces synchronizing pulses which are used to block an amplifier between the modulated carrier source and the output stages of the transmitter, Fig. 1 not shown). At a receiver adapted to select any one channel signal, a carrier rectifier provides a pulse for each gap in the incoming carrier wave, the pulse being passed through a delay device having suitable manual settings, to unblock a normally blocked amplifier preceding the discriminator circuit at times appropriate to the channel pulses selected, Fig. 2 (not shown). Specifications 600,272 and 703,254 are referred to.
