Abstract
642,097. Pulse modulation; multiplex signalling. SADIR-CARPENTIER. Oct. 10, 1946, No. 30320. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1945. [Class 40 (v)] In an impulse modulation communication transmitter comprising a source 1 of periodically recurring impulses, a linearizing counter reaction loop 5, 6, 7 is associated with a modulator 3, the output current of which is fed through an impulse frequency dividing circuit. Modulation is therefore effected on a train of impulses, the repetition frequency of which is a whole multiple of the output pulse frequency. Distortion is reduced by the loop 5, 6, 7 which comprises a demodulator, a low-pass filter and attenuator or dephaser, the low-pass filter being arranged to cut off at a relatively high value as determined by the frequency of the source 1. When used for a multiplex system, Fig. 2 (not shown), several channels are fed in parallel from source 1, each channel being modulated separately and the frequency divider giving modulated outputs of lower repetition frequency. These outputs are then combined in a mixer and transmitted as a pulse train which is representative of all the channel signals.
