636,928. Carrier transmission systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., LEY, D. A. and RUTENBERG, A. Nov. 11, 1947, No. 30000. [Class 40 (iv)] In a carrier telephony system, Fig. 1, each of a number of stations transmits signals in one frequency band and receives signals in a second different frequency band, apparatus being provided to convert signals from the first band to the second. An alternative arrangement, Fig. 2, has one or more of the stations transmitting in the second band and receiving in the first band, the frequency conversion apparatus being adapted to function in both directions. Repeaters or attenuators may be used.
