Abstract
The ferrous base of a chromized ferrous article is composed of an iron, containing less than 0.05 per cent carbon that has been de-oxidized and/or de-nitrated by the addition to the melt of aluminium so that the fined product contains no more than 0.2 per cent aluminium. An example of an iron composition is given containing; carbon 0.02-0.03 per cent, silicon not exceeding 0.20 per cent; manganese 0.01-0.60 per cent; phosphorus and sulphur not exceeding 0.30 per cent in total; aluminium not exceeding 0.2 per cent; iron remainder.
