796,292. Fastenings. B.E.T. FEDERATION, Ltd. May 11, 1956 [June 10, 1955]. No. 16783/55. Class 44 [Also in Group XIV] A fixing device for releasably securing one member to another comprises a flexible stud on one member, the stud having a re-entrant surface to engage and lock with a fixed surface on the other member so that manual displacement of the free end of the stud is necessary for disengagement and separation. As described, a cushion seat a, Figs. 1, 2, has two timber blocks b, Fig. 1, beneath the rear of the seat having cavities e facing rearward to engage a fixed rail f. Two flexible rubber members d, fixed beneath the front of the seat, have concave cavities e<SP>1</SP> facing forwards to engage a fixed rail g; the cavities are extended sufficiently to ensure that the studs d cannot be withdrawn from locked engagement with the rail g until the free end of the stud has been laterally displaced. The free ends of the stud d are preferably serrated at h to afford easy grip by the fingers. The wooden blocks may be replaced by one or more rubber members or metal hook plates, Figs. 3 and 5 not shown; and the rubber members may be modified to engage a rail or oval section, Fig. 6 not shown, or any other section.
