[Class 52 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] In a catch comprising two separable parts secured to or formed on the members to be connected, one part is formed with a slot having one edge, or an edge of a bridging strip extending across the slot, arranged to constitute a retaining edge, and the other part is provided with a fixed bolt having a hooked free end capable of being moved transversely to engage its hooked portion behind the retaining edge, and with a movable bolt capable of being projected into the slot to prevent tranverse movement of the fixed bolt. In a construction adapted for securing tubular furniture to floors, two hooked parts 2a, 3a, Fig. 5, formed on a stirrup-like member 1 engage in slots 4 in a floor plate 5, and are retained in engagement by a spring-pressed lever 8 constituting the movable bolt. The stirrup-member 1 is placed over a horizontal tube of the piece of furniture; rubber packing may be interposed. In an alternative arrangement, a solid fixed bolt 21, Fig. 8, secured within a tubular base member 14, has a projecting hooked part 2a, and a spring- pressed pivoted bolt 8, the upper part of which projects through the upper part of the tube 14 so as to be easily manipulated, is also mounted in the tubular member. In combination with this form, fixed hooks may be provided on the base of the chair or other article.
