Abstract
471,111. Stair - carpet fasteners. SMITH, H. F. Feb. 22, 1936, No. 5379. [Class 52 (v)] A stair-carpet fastener comprises a bracket 14, Fig. 1, adapted to be attached to the stairs and provided with channels 17, 18 for engagement with a carpet holding member which comprises two parallel arms 10, 12 connected at one end. The upper arm 10 is adapted to engage an edge portion of the carpet with its free end pointing towards the centre of the carpet, and the lower arm 12 is adapted to engage with the channels 17, 18 by movement outwardly only of the carpet, stops 22 limiting such movement and the holding member being releasably retained in position by engagement of the resilient inner end of the arm 12 with the stairs. The inner end 19 of the arm 12 is made too wide to permit its engagement with the channels 17, 18 or is made too narrow, as shown in Fig. 6, to permit such engagement. In the latter case the stop consists of a tongue 24 on the underside of the lower arm.
