This invention relates to pins of a type adapted for wide use. It is the object of the invention to provide an improved form of pin adapted particularly for holding a bouquet or the like in position on a dress or a coat so as to be secured firmly while at the same time being capable of being quickly and easily removed when desired.

In the preferred arrangement of parts, two end members which ordinarily are in the form of ornaments are employed, one of said end members being provided with a pin arranged to extend readily into a socket in the other end member, said members being yieldingly connected together by a novel arrangement of parts by which the pin is normally held releasably from disengagement from the socket. It is the principal object of the invention to provide an arrangement and construction which can be produced and assembled very easily and quickly and which will be efiective for it various purposes.

It is another object of the invention to improve devices of this type in sundry details herea The preferred means by which the several objects have been attained are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a face view oi my improved pin;

Fig. 2 is a view of a blank from which one of the end members of the pin is formed;

Fig. 3 is a side edge View of one of the end members of my improved arrangement with the pin broken away;

Fig. 4 is a rear face view of the parts shown in Fig. 1;

Fig. 5 is an edge view of the device shown partly in section;

Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing a modified form of end member; and

Fig. 7 is a back face View of the device as shown in Fig. 6.

Referring now to Figs. 1 to 5 of the drawing, in which corresponding parts are indicated by the same reference characters, I0 and II indicate the end members of my improved pin which in the arrangement shown are in the form of castings each comprising two plate portion I2 and I3 integrally connected together. The plates I l projecting longitudinally from the member at the point where the two plate portions are integrally connected, the end member being cast in position about the pin so as to have a strong rigid connection therewith. For receiving the pin l4, and swivelling thereon to dispose the end members approximately co-planar, the end member II is provided with a socket I5, as i clearly shown in said Figs. 4 and 5.

In the arrangement shown, the end members I0 and H are connected together by a rubber band It which engages the hooks of the end members at their bight portions which are relatively wide so as to hold the end members in close proximity to each other and cause them to swivel relatively to each other into the approximately co-planar relation mentioned. The arrangement i such that the rubber band normally holds the pin I4 releasably in engagement with the socket It": so as to prevent movement of the pin out of the socket except as the end members are moved longitudinally away from each other against the action of the resilient band.

By my improved arrangement, I have evolved a construction which can be very quickly and easily provided and can be very easily assembled into its final form. The plates I2 and I3 are preferably in the form of leaves so a to make the pin very appropriate for use for holding a bouquet in position.

In the arrangement shown in Figs. 6 and 7, end members I! and I8 are employed, each comprising a plate IS with a lug 29 formed integrally therewith and extending backwardly along the face of the plate. The end member I! is provided with a pin 2| which is secured in the lug 20, such pin 2| being arranged to extend into a socket 22 formed in the lug 20 of the end member I8, The end members are connected together in this arrangement by means of a rubber band I6 just as are the end member It and II of the arrangement first described.

While I prefer to employ the form of pin as shown in the drawing and as above described, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the construction shown except so far as the claims may be so limited, since changes might well be made in the form and arrangement of the parts without departing from my invention.
