Abstract

796,123. Metal containers. WATHNE, E. Sept. 24, 1956, No. 29157/56. Class 66. [Also in Group XXII] The marginal edges of the lid and body of a metal container are seamed together by rolling said edges downwards, inwards and upwards to a circular cross-sectional shape against the side of the container, there being a line of weakness at the top of the seam. In Fig. 5 the edge 5 of the lid has been folded over the edge 4 of the wall before forming said bead, and the weakening line 1 is formed on the underside of the marginal part of the lid. The lid has an opening lip 2 in the seam, Fig. 4, for use with a winding key. A rubber washer is present beneath the line 1 of weakness.
