Abstract

796,055. Making foam; fire - engines. FOAMITE. Ltd., and SHAPLAND, J. D. March 8, 1955 [March 11, 1954], No. 7111/54. Class 47 In the production of air-foam, foamforming liquid is supplied by a pump 1 to an injector 3 where air supplied by a pump 20 is entrained at a pressure above atmospheric. The pump 1 draws water through a pipe 14 from a tank 27 (not shown), and by means of an injector 17 in a by-pass 15 also draws in stabilizer liquid from a tank 13. The apparatus may be carried by a fire-fighting vehicle and is driven from the usual engine 21. The foam is supplied to a monitor 7 mounted on the engine cab and to hoses 10, 11. The pump 20 may be replaced by a pump 20a which is driven by the shaft 23 of the pump 1 instead of through a take-off from the gear box 22. Specification 777,139 is referred to.
