The means for the initial production of air foam in an installation in which water is supplied by a pipe 14 from a pump comprises a closed tank 1 containing water which is forced by carbon dioxide &c. from cylinders 2 through a Venturi device 11 to draw in stabilizer from a tank 3 and thence to a foam generator 15. The carbon dioxide &c. is released by piercers and passes through a throttling orifice 8. Specification 403,291 is referred to.
